Hillary

I’m very concerned about the possibilities of Hillary as a presidential candidate for 2008. She seems to have the traits of a divisive candidate. There are lots of people who really like her, but there seem to be just as many really don’t think much of her. In her favor, she has potential to get out much of the female vote, but that vote has typically gone in the favor of democrats, although this cap was narrowed to 1-2 percent in the Kerry-Bush election.

However, this past election has shed some light onto the general level of bigotry in America, and I for one can envision the same constituency of regressive voters coming out and vote against Hillary, saying “I sure as hell ain’t gonna have no woman president in my life **swig from the whiskey jar**” all the way to the polls.

However, Bill might make a decent first man. He may even be able to get some first man interns, and I to best of my knowledge a first man can’t be impeached.

Future of the DNP

We feel that there are three major problems with the Democratic Party right now.

1. What exactly do they stand for? Sure we can tell that they are well… not the Republicans, but the differences have become quite subtle. When care was promising his non-taxes, he was making this promise to the “middle-class”. Now, while most Americans self-identify as middle class, many probably realize (particularly given the economic climate) that they are working class or lower. These people certainly had to be saying “hey what about me?” The Democrats need to re-align themselves with labor and the populous movement. Remind people that they are the party of the people.
2. They need stronger candidates who run better campaigns. Kerry didn’t really codify his message until the first debate. He allowed the Bush campaign to define him, instead of him defining himself. We will get into the following in the future, but H.R. Clinton should not be the DNC go to gal in 2008.
3. In addition to clarifying who and what they stand for, the Democrats need to unite themselves even more in congress. They are cracking as a party, and they need to stand closely together to not fall asunder completely.

In The Beginning

This is the beginning of the Revblx blog. Once again, in lieu of the recent presidential election, we feel that it is our moral obligation to start some type of discourse about the political state of the country. We would like to start by looking at what the future of the Democratic Party maybe?
